Sweden’s Johan Kristoffersson set the quickest time in Q4 at the eighth round of the FIA World Rallycross Championship at Trois-Rivieres to be TQ (top qualifier) in Canada and will start on pole position for semi-final one this afternoon.

Reigning Champion Mattias Ekstrom was second behind Kristoffersson in their Q4 race and second on the time sheets. He will join Kristoffersson on the front-row of semi-final one. Norway’s Petter Solberg dropped to fourth on lap one of the same race in Q4 and was fifth quickest, behind Team Peugeot-Hansen team mates Timmy Hansen and Sebastien Loeb, but is second in the Intermediate Classification and secures pole position for semi-final two. The two-time World RX champion will start next to Finland’s Toomas Heikkinen.

“That was really good, I had a good launch but from there it was tight on the inside. Mattias (Ekstrom) came over a lot but I managed to come out of turn two in the lead,” said Kristoffersson. “I decided not to take any big risks and not to hit any holes, I just tried to stay clean.” Sweden’s Kevin Eriksson and Latvia’s Janis Baumanis will start on row two of semi-final one, with Swedish bothers Timmy and Kevin Hansen on row three.

Former rally drivers Sebastien Loeb and Ken Block will share row two of semi-final two, Block maintaining his 100% semi-final record this season even though he spun at the start of Q4 and was 19th quickest. Russia’s Timur Timerzyanov and Germany’s Timo Scheider will occupy row three of semi-final two. Norway’s Andreas Bakkerud will line up as first reserve for the semi-finals, the Hoonigan Racing Division driver qualified 13th in the Intermediate Classification.
