Norway’s Petter Solberg set the quickest time in Q3 at the eighth round of the FIA World Rallycross Championship in Canada by winning the last race of the session ahead of PSRX Volkswagen Sweden team mate Johan Kristoffersson.

Solberg made a brilliant start, as America’s Ken Block almost took second position at turn one but was too sideways and ran wide, allowing Kristoffersson to follow his team mate. Sweden’s Mattias Ekstrom was third behind the Volkswagen pair in race four and completed the top-three in the session. France’s Sebastien Loeb won race two and was fourth, with race three winner Kevin Eriksson fifth and Finland’s Toomas Heikkinen sixth.

Latvia’s Reinis Nitiss won the first race of the session in front of Norway’s Andreas Bakkerud and Sweden’s Timmy Hansen, the Team Peugeot-Hansen driver making it to the finish with a front puncture and is still outside the semi-final qualifying positions in 13th with just Q4 left to run before the final stages of the event. Finland’s Niclas Gronholm only just made it to the start of his race after his team changed the engine in his Ford Fiesta this morning, but retired on lap one of race two.

Britain’s Dan Rooke set the fastest in Q3 in the RX2 International Series, France’s Cyril Raymond was second and Belgium’s Guillaume De-Ridder.
