OMSE ENTER TWO SUPERCARS FOR HOLJES RX
Swedish team Olsbergs MSE will make its first FIA World Rallycross Championship appearance of the season at its home event, Holjes, next week with a pair of Ford Fiesta Supercars.
Sebastian Eriksson and Oliver Eriksson will drive the two Fiestas at their home race, Sebastian returning to World RX for the first time since he led the final at Holjes in 2014 and Oliver, who is the younger brother to permanent World RX driver Kevin Eriksson (Sebastian is unrelated), will make his first ever World RX start.
The 2014 World RX Teams' Champions achieved its most recent victory at the Estering in Germany last year with Kevin Eriksson, who now drives for the MJP Racing Team Austria team. "We haven’t been preparing so much, but we’re testing new stuff for next year and so on. I'm going to be at home (in Sweden) for the first time in four years on that weekend, so I thought it was a good opportunity," said OlsbergsMSE CEO Andreas Eriksson.
OMSE is running a customer programme to support drivers using their Ford Fiestas in FIA European Rallycross Championship and World RX events this season. It also runs cars in the RX2 International Series, but isn't running Supercars itself full-time in World RX, instead focusing on an American Honda-backed programme in America. "We will see what we can do obviously at Holjes. We’re trying to do something here too and we have a sponsor that wants to see how the races are in Europe, so it's a good opportunity. We could have tested or we could have done what we wanted in the European Championship, but I don’t compete against my customers. We work hard with our customers so they feel they get the best service, and we test and develop. To be able to test and develop for them going forward, we need to do some races too."
