Sweden’s Anton Marklund enters the second round of the FIA European Rallycross Championship for Supercar in Norway this weekend with the Championship lead, after winning the opening round in Barcelona, back in April.

No less than 33 drivers are entered in Euro RX Supercar for the Hell RX event, where Anton Marklund is hoping to maintain his championship lead. “I went to Barcelona with only one aim, to win the event and to leave as championship leader, and I managed to do that. Now it’s all about keeping that lead in the championship,” said Marklund. “The competitors who I think are the biggest threat had technical problems, spins and stuff, so it looked a lot easier than it was in Barcelona. I was pushing like hell in Q4 and was only a tenth faster than P2 over four laps. It will be tougher here for sure.”

To help him prepare and perfect his skills for rallycross events this season, Marklund is also competing in the Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia Championship, and has raced three times since the opening round of Euro RX. “It’s really small margins to be quickest in Euro RX now, it’s really tight. With the circuit racing, I’m working on those really small details, and in the end its those small details which will make the difference. It’s not whether you have the freshest tyres, it’s the driver who makes the least mistakes and is able to find those small little bits on the lap, so it’s really helping I think,” he continued. “We were pretty well prepared for Barcelona but I think everybody else has had the time to catch up. It will for sure be a lot tougher this weekend but the aim will be to be the best scoring driver and to come out of the championship leader.”
