The list of permanent entries in the 2017 FIA European Rallycross Championship has been released by the FIA today [Monday 6 March].

The five-round Euro RX Supercar Championship has attracted a huge entry of 29 driver permanent drivers, including 10 different nationalities driving cars from eight different manufacturers. Up to 35 Euro RX Supercar drivers will compete for success at each round in 2017.

Former Euro RX champions Robin Larsson (2014) and Tommy Rustad (2015) both return to the Championship, Larsson in his Audi A1 and Rustad remaining with the Albatec Racing team for a second season, alongside Finland’s Jere Kalliokoski in a pair of Peugeot 208s. Muennich Motorsport will field a Seat Ibiza and Audi S3 for German drivers Rene Muennich and Mandie August. Muennich also plans to race the Ibiza in the seven other World RX events this season that Euro RX does not attend.

2016 RX2 title-contender Thomas Bryntesson will race an ex-OlsbergsMSE Ford Fiesta in the JC Raceteknik team, partnering Norway’s Ola Froshaug. As revealed late last year, Marklund Motorsport will also run two cars in Euro RX this season, for Sweden’s Anton Marklund and Euro RX TouringCar race-winner Magda Andersson. A run-down of all of the Euro RX Supercar contenders will be online tomorrow.

In the FIA European Rallycross Championship for Super1600, up to 30 cars will compete in the class at each round, with 24 permanent entries. 2016 title-contenders, Denmark’s Ulrik Linnemann (Peugeot 208), Latvia’s Artis Baumanis (Skoda Fabia), Russia’s Timur Shigaboutdinov (Renault Twingo), Lithuania’s Kasparas Navickas (Skoda Fabia) and Hungary’s Krisztian Szabo (Skoda Fabia) will again challenge for the title. Portugal’s Mario Barbosa (Ford Fiesta) will return after impressive outings at the start of 2016, and Italian team Tedak Racing will run a pair of brand new Alfa Romeo MiTos for Davide Medici and Max Vercelli. Former Super1600 race winner Jussi-Petteri Leppihalme will return to the Set Promotion team to race a Renault Twingo.

Former champions will also compete for honours in the FIA European Rallycross Championship for TouringCar, where reigning champion Ben-Phillip Gundersen (Ford Fiesta) will be joined by 2011 champion Lars Oivind Enerberg. Two Belgian drivers will compete in the rear-wheel drive catgeory, with Steve Volders (Ford Fiesta) joining Danny De Beuckelaer (Volvo C30).
