SOLBERG HELPS LAUNCH NEW DIRT 4 IN LONDON
Double World Rallycross Champion Petter Solberg joined rally star Kris Meeke in London yesterday to launch Codemasters’ new game, Dirt 4, the official game of the FIA World Rallycross Championship.
Dirt 4 will include the traditional Montalegre World RX circuit in Portugal and Loheac in France, added to the three existing circuits from Dirt rally (launched in 2015) Hell in Norway, Holjes in Sweden and Lydden Hill in Great Britain.
As the FIA World Rallycross Championship’s official game, Dirt 4 also includes a number of new rallycross additions. A range of Supercars from the 2016 World RX season are included, with the new addition of the RX2 support category and cross karts as an entry formula.
“We’ve been working closely with Petter, who has a huge amount of real world experience in rally and rallycross. We learnt from Dirt Rally, we gained feedback from drivers and we’re taking it to the next level,” said Chief game designer, Paul Coleman.
“We’ve been working with all the guys behind rallycross and all the teams and drivers for the last few years. That has meant we’ve had great access and we’ve been able to make the cars feel a lot better. We’ve introduces cross kart and RX2 as beginner and intermediate classes for people to find their feet in rallycross rather than just getting into the Supercars like they used to do. We’re going to talking about rallycross much more in the future, so watch this space.”
Dirt 4 is due to be launched in June.
