Volkswagen RX Sweden driver Johan Kristoffersson is top qualifier in the Intermediate Classification at the World RX of Latvia, round ten of the FIA World Rallycross Championship.

The Swedish driver claims 16 points and is now level with Norway’s Petter Solberg in the World RX Drivers’ Championship standings, as the double champion suffered a huge blow in Latvia by not making it into the top 16, the first time in World RX history that he hasn’t qualified for the semi-finals.

Russia’s Timur Timerzyanov was fastest in Q4 ahead of Peugeot-Hansen pair Timmy Hansen and Sebastien Loeb, Hansen finishing third at the Intermediate Classification behind Andreas Bakkerud in second, with Loeb fifth overall. Joining Bakkerud on the front row of semi-final two this afternoon will be championship leader Mattias Ekstrom, who finished second to Timerzyanov in the last race of Q4.

Janis Baumanis is top Latvian heading into the semi-finals, in seventh overall, and will be joined in semi-final one by compatriot Reinis Nitiss, who is 11th at the Intermediate Classification. Topi Heikkinen won his race in Q4 and will also start in semi-final one this afternoon.

DTM racer Timo Scheider scored the best ever Intermediate Classification result for the Muennich Motorsport Seat Ibiza and is eighth overall, he will join France’s Davy Jeanney and Sweden’s Robin Larsson in semi-final two.
