Norway’s Tom Daniel Tanevik will race in the FIA European Rallycross Championship this season in the Supercar category, moving up from Euro RX TouringCar where he is famed for his exploits in his Mazda RX8.

Tanevik will compete in the Volvo C30 campaigned by Tommy Rustad in 2014. Tanevik said:“HTB Racing and Tommy had this car for sale, and I like the Volvo. I haven’t driven it yet but the car is going through some upgrades at the moment and I am going to test drive it this Easter."

The rear-wheel drive expert hasn’t driven a Supercar previously, but is hoping to be on the pace in the five-round Euro RX championship this year. “I’m really looking forward to driving my new Supercar and I hope that I can deliver results that I can be proud of, something I think will be possible with this Volvo. My plan is to be among the top five drivers in the European Championship and I hope that I will be able to stand on the podium a couple of times.”

Not only will Tanevik’s team run his Volvo Supercar, but also his RX8 TouringCar as part of a two-car squad. “The Mazda is being rented by Per Magne Royras for 2016. He will drive in my team alongside my Supercar,” explained Tanevik.

Euro RX will support the FIA World Rallycross Championship at five events in 2016; Belgium, Norway, Sweden, Barcelona and Latvia, while the Euro RX TouingCar category will run at events in Belgium, Norway, Sweden, Latvia and Germany.
