Germany’s Andreas Steffen will race a Ford Fiesta Supercar in the FIA European Rallycross Championship and selected FIA World Rallycross Championship events in 2016.

The Super1600 driver has bought a Jos Kuypers built Ford Fiesta. Steffen lives near the Estering circuit at Buxtehude in Germany and has been competing in rallycross for 12 years. He regularly made the semi-finals while competing in the Euro RX Super1600 championship this year, driving a Skoda Fabia.

“It was always my aim to start race in Supercar with a competitive car and I am proud to present my new project,“ said Steffen. “This is just one small step in the development of our team. We will have additional mechanics and engineers to support the project from 2016 onwards and we have to learn a lot. We will begin extensive testing in the next weeks and months, to be well positioned in time for the the season opener of Euro RX next year.”

Alongside his Euro RX plans, Steffen will compete at his home round of World RX at the Estering, and also at the second round of the championship at Hockenheim, where World RX joins the DTM for the German series’ season opener.
