JRM Racing commits to FIA World Rallycross Championship
JRM Racing will contest selected rounds of the 2015 FIA World Rallycross Championship as it undertakes the development of its MINI Countryman RX.
JRM has a rich and successful heritage in international motorsport and joining the burgeoning World RX series marks the beginning of an exciting journey into a new motorsport discipline for the Daventry-based team.
It will contest selected events on this year’s 13-round calendar and is likely to test several different drivers throughout the course of the season.
“We’ve studied the development and growth of World RX closely since the series was launched in 2014 and we believe it has a very exciting future,” JRM’s Executive Director, James Rumsey, said.
“We want to be winning races in World RX but we recognise that it will take some time to achieve that goal. By treating the 2015 season as a development year, we will have a great opportunity to learn about all of the elements that are required to be successful in World RX. In 2016, we intend to run a full season and challenge for world championships.”
JRM Racing took delivery of its MINI RX cars at the turn of the year and has spent the intervening months working hard to prepare them for competitive action. The MINI RX is derived from the MINI World Rally Car that enjoyed a successful but short-lived spell in the FIA World Rally Championship.
JRM will run one of its MINI RX cars at the upcoming World RX Media Day, which will be used to launch the 2015 season. This event takes place in Barcelona on Monday, 13 April.
