SCHEIDER TARGETING REPEAT OF 2017 CAPE TOWN SUCCESS

Germany's Timo Scheider returns to the FIA World Rallycross Championship fold this weekend at the World RX of South Africa, an event where he finished fifth in the final last season.

Driving in his fourth and final World RX appearance in 2018 for the ALL-INKL.COM Munnich Motorsport team, Scheider is hoping for a repeat performance of his result in Cape Town 12 months ago. "We need a clean start to the weekend, that's the first thing. Last time in Riga we had pretty good speed but we had a couple of struggles in Free Practice and then in qualifying. Right now I'm just wishing to have four clean qualifying races then I think we should be okay to make it into the semis at least. That is for sure the target, last year I was in the final so I like the track and I'm happy to be back for the final of the season in Cape Town, this year with the Seat Ibiza," said Scheider. "Every single weekend this year we've had some issues here and there, so the main target is to keep it clean and to have a weekend without any problems."

The multi-tasking driver raced for the same team in the WTCR last weekend at Macau and finished on the podium, but doesn't expect any problems getting reacquainted with the 600 bhp rallycross Supercar in South Africa. "It's such a big difference that the switch is not a big problem, for sure you have to adapt every time you go in a new car but I have driven a couple of cars this year. Sometimes you jump in and have to ask yourself, or the mechanic or engineer which button or switch is for what, but from driving style I'm quite into rallycross already so it's just to make it as good as possible."

Scheider is joined in the ALL-INKL team this weekend by team owner Rene Munnich, completing his season of Euro RX and World RX events.
