Sweden’s Johan Kristoffersson continued his pace setting form in the FIA World Rallycross Championship at the World RX of Sweden, by setting the quickest time in Q1.

The PSRX Volkswagen Sweden driver led Q1 race three from the start and beat the quickest time from Q1 race two, set by EKS Audi Sport’s Andreas Bakkerud. Having won Q3 and Q4 at Speedmachine in the UK and all four qualifying sessions in Hell, Norway in round five, Kristoffersson took a new record of seven qualifying wins in a row at Holjes. “The race went really well, the car feels fast and I’m looking forward to the rest of the weekend,” he said.

Bakkerud won race two when leader Petter Solberg went off the track in the joker lap section, but Solberg finished fourth and was sixth quickest. Team Peugeot Total’s new Peugeot 208 WRX was immediately on the pace in Q1, Sweden’s Timmy Hansen won race four and beat EKS’ Mattias Ekstrom third on the time sheets. France’s Sebastien Loeb overtook Solberg in the joker lap when the double-World RX Drivers’ Champion went off the track and was fifth quickest.

GRX Taneco’s Timur Timerzyanov finished second to Hansen in race four and was seventh quickest ,with Latvia’s Janis Baumanis, Sweden’s Robin Larsson and Sweden’s Kevin Eriksson completing the top ten. Niclas Gronholm led the first World RX race of the weekend but was slowed by a puncture.
