SCHEIDER PUMPED FOR WORLD RX RETURN, HINTS 2019 PLANS
Germany’s Timo Scheider returns to the FIA World Rallycross Championship for the first time in 2018 at the World RX of Sweden this weekend, driving a Seat Ibiza for the ALL-INKL.COM Muennich Motorsport team.
Scheider raced in a full World RX season in 2017 and finished on the podium at Catalunya-Barcelona. He will race the same car in Sweden that he drove in the first round of Americas Rallycross at the Speedmachine Festival at Silverstone in the UK earlier this year.
“It’s pretty cool to be out again with these guys for a little come back, especially here in Sweden where it’s for sure the best and the hottest spot I would say for RX fans and drivers, so I’m really pleased to be part of it,” he said. “The boss (Rene Muennich) is using the updated car this weekend in Euro RX but that’s how it is, it’s kind of like a testing period for us. I will attempt to come to some more events this year, this car is pretty cool but maybe the updated version will be for me later in the season.”
The two-time DTM Champion is aiming to return to World RX in 2019. “It’s my target to come back, I can tell you it will be interesting in a couple of weeks – we will have a decision and 2019 will be probably different to this year. It’s up to the press department, the team owner, the manufacturer and so on. In the end It’s not my decision, but my own decision is made, I would like to be back.”
