DE RIDDER, KALLIO AND HOLTEN ON TOP IN HELL

Four different nationalities stood on the top step of the podium at the World RX of Norway last weekend, round five of the FIA World Rallycross Championship.

As Sweden’s Johan Kristoffersson won his fourth round of the season in World RX Supercar, Belgium’s Guillaume De-Ridder won the RX2 International Series final, Finland’s Jesse Kallio won the FIA European Rallycross Championship for Super1600 class and Norway’s Daniel Holten was victorious in FIA European Rallycross Championship for TouringCar.

In RX2, De-Ridder climbed from the second row of the grid in the final to pass Olsbergs MSE team mate Oliver Eriksson for victory after the joker lap strategies were completed, De-Ridder’s first RX2 victory lifting him to fourth in the Championship. Speedmachine winner Eriksson continues to lead the points and was second in Hell ahead of local driver Henrik Krogstad. The Norwegian’s JC Raceteknik team mate, Sondre Evjen moved to second in the points with fourth place in Hell. Latvia’s Vasily Gryazin finished fifth and Sweden’s William Nilsson was slowed by a puncture in sixth.

Jesse Kallio took his joker on the first lap of the Super1600 final and later passed Russia’s Aydar Nuriev for victory when the Skoda Fabia driver, who has been TQ (top qualifier) at the Intermediate Classification, took a last lap joker. Making a long awaited debut of Volland Racing’s Audi A1, Lithuania’s Rokas Baciuska completed the podium, but Latvia’s Artis Baumanis continues to lead the Championship and was fourth in Hell. Hungary’s Gergely Marton and Estonia’s Janno Ligur were fifth and sixth.

Norway’s Daniel Holten delighted the home crowds by leading a Norwegian one-two in the Euro RX TouringCar final to score victory, with Citroen DS3 driver Jan-Emil Wilsberg second and Championship leader Steve Volders third. Norway’s Fredrik Magnussen was fourth, with another Norwegian, Sivert Svardal driving his Mazda RX8 to fifth. 2018 Euro RX Supercar competitor Anders Braten led the final on lap one but retired with a technical problem.
