In damp conditions that have greeted the World RX of Belgium on Sunday morning, round three of the FIA World Rallycross Championship, Team Peugeot Total’s Timmy Hansen stormed to the quickest time in Q3 and moved to the top of the Intermediate Classification.

Hansen seized the lead of the last race in Q3 at the start and took his joker on the last lap ahead of PSRX Volkswagen Sweden’s Johan Kristoffersson, who was second quickest.

GRX Taneco’s Niclas Gronholm won the first race of the session after his team mate Timur Timerzyanov and GC Competition’s Jerome Grosset-Janin got involved in a battle on track, Gronholm’s third quickest time lifting him into the semi-final positions.

Day one TQ (top qualifier) Petter Solberg lost track position at turn one of race three and finished fifth, 11th quickest, one place behind Sebastien Loeb. Mattias Ekstrom was seventh quickest and moved to second in the Intermediate Classification ahead of Solberg.

It was EKS Audi Sport’s Andreas Bakkerud who won Q3 race two, taking victory when Peugeot’s Kevin Hansen stopped in the lap four joker and was hit by GCK’s Guerlain Chicherit, the contact breaking the right-rear suspension on Chicherit’s Megane RS, but he still finished the race.

Olsbergs MSE’s Robin Larsson moved up to second in the race to maintain his semi-final position, but his team mate Kevin Eriksson was unable to start Q3 after succumbing to mechanical problems in morning warm-up with his Ford Fiesta ST.
